Bathroom Trends for 2025: From Utility to Sanctuary

Writing about bathrooms might just be my favorite topic. I like to think of the bathroom as the soul of the home, a space every guest sees, where there’s no hiding imperfections, and where you can indulge in a little well-deserved self-care. If you’re building, renovating, or updating, here are the latest trends we’re loving in luxury bath design:

1. Bold Floors & Floating Vanities
Statement floor tiles add personality, especially in tight spaces where wall treatments are limited. Floating vanities continue to rise in popularity for their sleek, space-saving effect. Expect to see more custom-built vanities, designed for how you live.

2. Living Walls & Natural Textures
The green trend is real. Vertical gardens in bathrooms add life, literally. Paired with natural materials like walnut and stone, these spaces feel calm, grounded, and health-forward.

3. The Bathing Revival
Freestanding tubs are now design statements. Once considered outdated, they’re back with sculptural form and spa-like function. Tubs now express indulgence, not obligation.

4. Smart Water Experiences
From digital controls to chromotherapy, today’s water features offer fully customized sensory experiences. Steam showers, dual-user options, and intuitive faucets are becoming standard in luxury bath design.

5. Patterns, Scale & Drama
Geometric tile is trending again, adding dimension, energy, and a nod to mid-century design. Showers are getting larger, with wet rooms and indoor-outdoor connections enhancing the sense of wellness.

6. Lighting & Ambiance
LEDs, backlit mirrors, and intuitive lighting settings create mood-driven environments that energize or calm. Lighting is now just as critical as plumbing in the bath design conversation.

7. Unexpected Details
Furniture in bathrooms? Yes. Think dressing areas and hospitality-inspired seating. Colored or glitter grout? Absolutely. Grout has evolved from a utility to a design feature. And yes, gray is still going strong. It’s not going anywhere, and tile manufacturers are pairing it with rich tones and finishes that bring it to life.

We hope you’re as inspired by these ideas as we are. If you’ve recently transformed your own bath, send us your before-and-afters. We’d love to see your take on these trends.
