Completed in 2023, The Serenity Residence is a testament to the harmony between modern design and nature. Built primarily of stone, glass, and wood, this home was designed with the client’s desire for minimal maintenance and a space that fosters relaxation. The architecture is simple in appearance but challenging to execute, featuring a timber structure and storefront glass panels that pivot open, allowing airflow to move freely through the home. This design, reminiscent of a tree bending in the woods, connects the space to the surrounding landscape.
The color palette of the home is deliberately organic, with tones that complement the natural surroundings. One of the most significant design challenges was achieving a calming effect throughout the space, as JAQUE’s team had to resist the temptation to add elements that would overwhelm the senses. Instead, the focus was on refining the design to provide a space where every detail promotes a sense of calm.
The open floor plan is divided into three segments. The central segment houses the common areas, while one wing is a glass portal into the guest suites, and the other is a private entrance to the primary suite. This design keeps the occupants’ living spaces connected to the central common area while maintaining a sense of privacy. The intentional lighting, placed between the wall line and roof line, creates a dramatic effect at night. When illuminated, the home appears as a glass structure with long lines of light stretching outward, emphasizing its clean and simple form.
In the primary suite, an office loft allows the owners to enjoy their morning coffee with a serene view of the lake, adding to the tranquil atmosphere of the home. JAQUE’s design achieves a delicate balance between openness and privacy, ensuring that the space remains functional while evoking a feeling of peace and connection to nature.
BOTTOM LINE:
The Serenity Residence is a perfect example of how JAQUE can bring a vision of minimalism, permanence, and simplicity to life. By using innovative materials and thoughtful design, JAQUE created a home that offers a calming environment, perfect for decompression and relaxation, all while blending seamlessly with the natural landscape.
