What is Steampunk Design?
Rooted in science fiction and history, steampunk design is a striking fusion of 19th-century aesthetics and exaggerated, steam-powered technology. Drawing inspiration from the British Victorian and Edwardian eras, this unique style transforms spaces with intricate machinery, rich textures, and a romantic nod to a bygone yet fantastical future.
A Client’s Dream Realized
After admiring JAQUE’s work for nearly a decade, a client approached her to create a steampunk-inspired residential fantasyland. The result? A breathtaking blend of artistry, mechanical ingenuity, and historical elegance—all expressed through a one-of-a-kind Victorian setting.
Step Into the World of Steampunk
The experience begins as you leave the mundane suburbs and enter a magical Victorian realm. A towering 40-foot statue of a steampunk goddess commands attention at the entrance. Inside, every detail tells a story:
- Authentic Artifacts: From tufted roundabouts to 20-foot cascading glass bead light fixtures, the home is a treasure trove of steampunk-inspired art and design.
- Custom Furnishings: Bespoke textiles and furniture harmoniously blend the old with the new, bringing retro-futurism to life.
Main-Level Marvels
The main-level bar is a design masterpiece, featuring:
- A built-in wine machine and beer tap
- A 110-inch retractable movie screen
- A two-sided circular fireplace
- A 24×24 antique glass ceiling resembling shattered mirrors, accented by LED lighting
Custom touches, like reclaimed wood piping and unique cocktail tables, enhance the industrial elegance of the space.
Victorian Grandeur Meets Sci-Fi Fantasy
The second floor is a testament to steampunk creativity, anchored by a luxurious 1,500-sq.-ft. master suite. This opulent retreat features:
