Located in the heart of Montreal’s downtown core, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth offers a striking balance of contemporary design and historical charm. Famous for housing the John Lennon & Yoko Ono Suite, where the couple held their Bed-In for Peace in 1969, the hotel remains a testament to the city’s vibrant history and joie de vivre. The renovation of the hotel was a monumental $140 million transformation, aimed at reimagining the property as a modern business center while retaining its storied past.
The property now features 950 well-appointed rooms, including 100 suites, with interiors that are both modern and functional, while paying tribute to the hotel’s rich legacy. The collaboration between JAQUE and a team of design experts, including Architecture 49 Collaborative, Sid Lee Architecture, Pomerleau Construction, and Design 360, resulted in a stunning blend of timeless style and innovative design.
JAQUE played a key role in transforming the hotel’s interior spaces, particularly the atmospheric bar Nacarat. Drawing inspiration from the glam rock era of Ziggy Stardust and modern 21st-century elements, Nacarat’s bold design sets the tone for the hotel’s aesthetic, offering guests an exciting, immersive experience.
Additional offerings include Kréma, a cozy coffee lounge, Rosélys, a lively bistro that evolves from morning to evening, and Marché Artisans, a one-of-a-kind urban market. The wellness center has been expanded, and a new spa has been introduced, elevating the hotel’s amenities to meet the needs of today’s sophisticated traveler.
In addition to its luxurious offerings, the hotel also underwent extensive inventory management improvements. JAQUE contributed to the hotel’s seamless integration of modern technology, helping to streamline operations and improve overall guest experience. The hotel now boasts a real-time 360° view of all inventory across its vast property, improving daily operations and operational efficiency.
BOTTOM LINE:
Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth is a unique blend of Montreal’s rich heritage and the modern world. With a transformative $140 million renovation and a commitment to sustainability, the hotel now stands as a leading business center and a luxury destination. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of JAQUE and the design team, this iconic property continues to thrive, embracing its history while looking toward a bold, sustainable future.
